New Student Support eResources from Your Library
While our community tackles the throes of back-to-school season, Sonoma County Library is here to help. In addition to all the online student resources that a Sonoma County Library card unlocks, patrons now have access to ScienceFlix by Scholastic, MakeMake, and the Teen Resource Center!
“We’re excited to offer even more electronic resources for kids and teens that will not only assist with school assignments, but provide accurate information on health and personal growth topics,” said Jaime Anderson, Sonoma County Library Collection Services Division Manager. “In addition, our new MakeMake interface is full of fun, interactive eBooks that are entirely in Spanish and perfect for parents to enjoy with their children.”
All you need is a Sonoma County Library card to access free digital resources like the following.
- Have a child in your life who loves science? Do you teach STEM focused classes or run a maker space? ScienceFlix™ has more than 20,000 science-related videos and articles that cover earth science, space science, life science, health and the human body, physical science, and technology and engineering.
- MakeMake is a digital library with 200 Spanish language eBooks for children. MakeMake also includes resources for parents and educators teaching Spanish language, ELD, and Spanish/English dual immersion. With an interface entirely in Spanish, the MakeMake collection is simple to access and use.
- MakeMake es tu biblioteca digital en español para niños con 200 libros animados e interactivos además de actividades y recursos para apoyar los padres y educadores enseñado el español, ELD, y la educación bilingüe. Con un sitio web totalmente en español, es fácil leer con MakeMake.
- The Teen Resource Center includes engaging, easy-to-access topics grouped into the areas of health, financial literacy and personal growth. Enjoy access to informative articles and eBooks for teens and links to support groups, hotlines and more, plus a searchable database of frequently asked questions. This is an excellent resource for high school counselors and AVID instructors!
