Chamber CEO, Peter Rumble
Peter Rumble began his tenure as the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber's CEO in February 2018.
Since joining, the Chamber has focused its activity on improving the systems that underpin the regional economy.
Central to these efforts have been the formation of a unique loan pool investing in affordable housing development, the expansion of private sector investment in quality childcare, the re-introduction of a small business incubator in Sonoma County, and launching cultural activities and events in Santa Rosa’s downtown core.
Prior to joining the Chamber, Mr. Rumble served the County of Sonoma as a Deputy County Administrator. During his public service with the County of Sonoma, Mr. Rumble coordinated the County’s strategic planning and implementation efforts, developed the County’s first community engagement plan, oversaw intergovernmental affairs and legislative advocacy programs, managed the County’s media relations, and established the Health Policy Division, which led the County’s preparation for and implementation of Health Care Reform. Mr. Rumble also developed the Sonoma County Energy Independence program, led the first Portrait of Sonoma report, and developed several water and agricultural related policies. After sharing command of the County’s emergency response during the 2017 Sonoma Complex Fires, Mr. Rumble was appointed to oversee the County’s long-term recovery and resilience efforts.
Outside of his career with the County of Sonoma, Peter was a founding partner and CEO of a clean energy company providing services to communities throughout California. Mr. Rumble has also conducted research for local governments, such as the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and Illinois Governor’s Office, and worked for the United States Congress on a wide range of issues including nutrition education, emergency services, youth education, workforce development, consumer protection, and tax policy.
Mr. Rumble has a Bachelor’s degree in US History from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from San Francisco State University, graduating with honors. Mr. Rumble is a board member of the housing advocacy and education non-profit, Generation Housing, and a board member of the Santa Rosa Fire Foundation, founded after the Sonoma Complex Fires to support the equipment and mental health needs of Santa Rosa’s fire fighters.
Mr. Rumble was a member of Leadership Santa Rosa class 35 and was named one of the 40 leaders of the North Bay under age 40. He lives in Santa Rosa with his wife and two children, is an avid cyclist, a certified coach in Gracie Barra Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and enjoys sailing the San Francisco Bay.
