Community Input Opportunity - Public Hearing On City Budget Priorities
The City of Santa Rosa will hold a Public Hearing on fiscal year 2018-2019 budget priorities at the January 9th regular meeting of the City Council. Santa Rosa residents are encouraged to come to the public hearing, located in City Council Chambers at 100 Santa Rosa Avenue, to share their ideas with City Council (Council) and staff as development of the FY 2018-19 budget gets underway. The public hearing will begin no earlier than 5:00pm.
Every year the Council holds a public hearing to gather input from the community on priorities to be considered for the upcoming budget. The City of Santa Rosa Charter requires a public hearing be held no later than March 31st and prior to any annual goal setting meetings held by the Council. It also marks the kick-off of the City’s budget process.
Anticipating a challenging budget process, with fire recovery efforts and activities taking top priority and significantly impacting financial resources, the Council is reaching out to encourage community input. “The Council is interested in the community’s input and holding the hearing earlier this year will allow for public input prior to any decisions that are made,” says Mayor Chris Coursey.
If you are unable to attend and want to provide input, you may do so by writing to the Council at citycouncil@srcity.org. You are also encouraged to provide comments through the Santa Rosa website at www.srcity.org/BudgetComments. Comments submitted through the website or sent to the City Clerk by 12:00 noon on January 9, 2018 will be given to the City Council prior to the meeting. The hearing will also be live-streamed and available to view at a later time. For additional information, including current and past budget documents, please visit www.srcity.org/budget.
