Strong Schools = Strong Economy: A Business Forum on K-12 Education
The strength of our local economy is closely tied to the health of our public education system, and business leaders are asking important questions about what’s happening across our schools today.
On Thursday, May 14, you'll want to Wake Up with the Metro Chamber for a breakfast forum featuring Amie R. Carter, Ed.D., Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools, designed to provide clarity, context, and shared understanding. We’ll take a straightforward look at how school funding works, explore the realities and tradeoffs of district consolidation, and break down what state receivership means in practice. The goal is to help build a more informed business community around the challenges shaping K–12 education today.
While we’ll touch on broader policy considerations, this conversation is grounded in the present and focused on learning, asking questions, and identifying realistic, near-term ways to engage.
We’ll also highlight practical ways businesses can get involved right now to support students – through internships, career exposure, and other direct connections that help strengthen our future workforce.
Join us for an informed, balanced discussion about where things stand and where the business community can play a meaningful role today.
