Experiment Farm Open House and Plant Sale
The Luther Burbank Experiment Farm welcomes you to stop and explore our historic farm and cottage during Farm Trail's Spring Tour on Sunday, May 3rd from 10AM to 3PM. Free and family friendly!
Luther Burbank (1849-1926) was a pioneering botanist who developed more than 800 varieties of plants, including the Shasta daisy, Santa Rosa plum, freestone peach, and the Burbank russet potato - used in 70% of the US's processed potato dishes like french fries.
Visit his experimental farm in Sebastopol, where he did most of his work, and see his plants come to life! Volunteers maintain this 3 acre plot, complete with orchard, demonstration garden, and plant nursery where we still grow plants for sale. His cottage is beautifully preserved and will be open to the public for this rare occasion.
There will be heirloom fruit trees and perennial plants for sale, including many of Burbank's finest. Kids activities and a craft sale with local artists on feature. See the farm at the height of bloom - the Shasta daisies and more will be in full show! Enjoy a picnic at our tables, explore the self-guided tour, and find fun local gifts at the Luther Burbank Experiment Farm!
