Meet Preet Sekhon, a Owner/Operator and Developer at Optimal Hospitality, Inc.!
Tell us about what you do? Give us your “elevator speech”
I’m a hotel owner/operator first and, as of the last 2 years, a developer 2nd. My goal for the next 5 years is to flip those two. Currently in the process of building a 101 room Tru by Hilton by the Santa Rosa Airport.
How long have you been with your company/in that line of work?
I’ve been in hotel operations for over 10 years. It is the family business and it has been owning and operating hotels since 2006.
What do you enjoy most about YPN? If you are new and haven’t experienced what YPN has to offer - what are you hoping to accomplish within this community?
I’ve been traveling for the family business for the last 10 years and I’ve feel like I’ve lost touch with Sonoma County. So, I’m very interested in networking.
What do you bring to YPN? If you were to be a go to person for a fellow YPN member what would they go to you for?
I love to network and sell!
How long have you been in Sonoma County? If a short period where are you from originally?
I lived in Petaluma, but moved in 2008. Work had me travelling and living in the Midwest, and then I moved to SF in 2017. My long term plans are to settle in Sonoma County.
Whether it is “Hakuna Matata” “Carpe Diem” or “Just Do IT” - Do you have a motto in life?
Just saw this on Instagram today, “All we have is Now”
What if your favorite color?
In 10 years where do you hope to be?
I hope to transform our business into a commercial real estate investing and development company, not only investing our own funds but also bringing on investors.
If you were allowed to eat one type of food for the rest of your life (and not deal with the consequences) what would it be?
Salmon nigiri from Masa Sushi
If you were to play “hooky” from work for a day, what would your ideal day look like?
18 holes at Olympic Country Club
What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?
I don’t have one specific accomplishment that I can think of, but what I would say is being able to thrive through all of the hardships that small businesses face.
