YPN member spotlights are a quick introduction to some of our favorite YPN members. This month, we're spotlighting Gloria Zhang, R&D Software Engineer at Keysight Technologies.
What brought you to Sonoma County, and why did you join YPN?
I moved to Sonoma County to start my career after graduating with a PhD from Arizona. The wine county's stunning natural beauty and dynamic professional community were major draws for me. Joining the Young Professional Network (YPN) was a natural choice, as it offered the perfect platform to connect with other professionals, develop my skills, and contribute to the local community.
What is your favorite YPN memory, and why?
My favorite YPN memory is the Keysight NextGen and YPN Mixer held at Iron Ox. It was a fantastic evening filled with engaging conversations, new connections, and the chance to enjoy the renowned beer. I also won a fancy T-shirt as a third prize in the Bingo game. The event truly encapsulated the spirit of YPN—bringing people together in a fun and meaningful way.
Share with us a fun fact that not many people know about!
I once had the incredible experience of boating on Lugu Lake in Yunnan, China. During the trip, I saw the stunning aquatic flower called Ottelia acuminata. This rare and beautiful flower blooms underwater, creating a unique mesmerizing sight.
If you could accomplish anything, professionally, academically, or personally, what would it be?
Professionally, I aspire to lead a successful project that significantly improves future communication systems, especially security. Academically, I aim to complete a master's degree in psychology to qualify as a social worker who can help women and seniors in our community. Personally, I would love to travel to every continent and immerse myself in natural, museums, and diverse cultures.
What are your favorite Sonoma County/Santa Rosa activities?
I enjoy exploring the local hiking trails, as well as attending and volunteering in community events. Sonoma County's blend of outdoor activities and opportunities to give back to the community makes it a wonderful place to live and work.
