WHEEL Program Rolling Along - Graduations & New Classes
On March 3rd, employees of River Rock Casino graduated from the Chamber's WHEEL (Worksite Held Employee English Learning) Program. Dry Creek Rancheria & River Rock Casino Training Manager, Sheila Hanley, MS, CTA, says of their WHEEL Program implementation:
River Rock Casino has, in conjunction with the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, offered two 10 week sessions of the WHEEL – Worksite Held Employee English Learning program. This program has greatly impacted our organization in many ways. The participants in the program have more confidence in themselves and in their speaking abilities. Their co-workers enjoy being able to communicate more freely with these team members. And, ultimately our guests are getting more attention and increased service levels because of the knowledge and self-confidence gained from the participants of this program.
Moreover, you can see the pride in the faces of these people. Their pride comes from achievement, but I also think it comes from an appreciation the organization cares about them enough to provide this program to them. I am very proud of these people and can’t say enough about this WHEEL program! Thank you Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce for providing this program to River Rock Casino!
On April 8th, WHEEL's Family Literacy Workshop was launched at Costeaux French Bakery & Café. The essence of family literacy is that parents are supported as the first teachers of their children. The workshops will take place over three weeks, and will then transition into WHEEL’s employee English learning classes.
WHEEL Program implementations are being lined up for a variety of area companies including Traditional Medicinals, McClelland Dairy, Straus Family Creamery and others, while Farm Bureau WHEEL participants will graduate next week.
