WHEEL Launches at LEMO, USA
The Chamber kicked off the WHEEL program at LEMO, USA on Saturday, January 29th with a literacy event. The event included a workshop that focused on learning tools parents can use when preparing their children for kindergarten, as well the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education. Participants were also able to visit with the Santa Rosa Junior College and Latino Service Providers, as well as receiving financial literacy information from Exchange Bank. The literacy event at LEMO served as the commencement for the program, and employees will be offered the opportunity to participate in worksite held English classes later this month. In other WHEEL news, Amy’s Kitchen and 4-Cs employees are both taking English classes through the WHEEL program, and the North Coast Builders Exchange has classes starting for their members on February 28th. The WHEEL (Worksite Held Employee English Learning) program is an effort to close the achievement gap between English language speakers and English as a second language speakers.
