Sonoma County Indoor Mask Mandate Amended
October 22, 2021
Yesterday, Sonoma County Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase amended the indoor mask mandate for some vaccinated groups.
Per the amended health order, certain stable groups of people, such as those in gyms, classes, and offices, have the option of lifting the mandate on wearing masks indoors if they verify that all members of the group are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
- The amendment applies to indoor gatherings of 100 or fewer people.
- Employers, hosts, and organizers must control access to the setting by verifying vaccination status to allow groups to remove face coverings.
- Proof of a negative test is not considered a substitute for proof of vaccination.
This exception to the order requiring face coverings in all indoor public settings is voluntary. As such, employers, hosts, and organizers may continue to enforce universal indoor masking if they choose to not enforce vaccination status.
