Message from Chamber CEO Denouncing Anti-Asian Racism and Violence
Last week, the Sonoma County Junior College District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt a Resolution in Support of Solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander Communities and Denouncing Anti-Asian Racism/Violence. You can read the Resolution here.
I, on behalf of the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber, stand in solidarity with Dr. Chong and the Junior College Board in the adoption of this resolution. As we were moved to affirm that Black Lives Matter in the face of horrific violence perpetrated against people of color, we have seen “vicious hate crimes against Asian Americans who’ve have been attacked, harassed, blamed and scapegoated”, as recently called out by President Biden. We now add our voice to those condemning this violence.
We are all one. Racism has no place in our community, and in our perpetual effort to form a more perfect union, we must continue to stand against it. Our humanity is strengthened when we come together in support of each other, our communities are strengthened when we are united, and our economy is better when we help everyone prosper.
