Member Profile: Sean Stiny, Medtronic

Our member spotlight this month comes from Sean Stiny, a marketing specialist at Medtronic!

Tell us about what you do? I project manage the marketing communications for our global stent products at Medtronic. I specialize in digital marketing channels. I’m still relatively new to Medtronic, so I’m evaluating a lot of our processes and how we can improve them. I try to lead by example and strive every day to be a productive member of my company and my Sonoma County community.

How long have you been with your company/in that line of work?
One year at Medtronic, marketing for 10 years.

What do you enjoy most about YPN? If you are new and haven’t experienced what YPN has to offer - what are you hoping to accomplish within this community?
Still fairly new, but I’ve enjoyed a couple Professional Development Days and being around others in similar stages of their career.

What do you bring to YPN? If you were to be a go to person for a fellow YPN member what would they go to you for?
I’ve worked at numerous places here in Santa Rosa and around the county. I feel I’ve gained an insider perspective on the business landscape and industries in our region.

How long have you been in Sonoma County? If a short period where are you from originally?
Around 10 years in Sonoma County. Grew up in Sacramento. Northern California born and raised.

Whether it is “Hakuna Matata” “Carpe Diem” or “Just Do IT” - Do you have a motto in life?
“Don’t talk about it, be about it.”

In 10 years where do you hope to be?
I hope I’m still learning and growing personally and professionally here in Sonoma County.

If you were allowed to eat one type of food for the rest of your life (and not deal with the consequences) what would it be?
Fried Chicken Sandwiches.

If you were to play “hooky” from work for a day, what would your ideal day look like?
Hiking at Annadel or Sugarloaf.

What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?
While going through a career transition I started my own little digital marketing agency on the side (Wine Country Digital). I've been able to meet and help many small business owners around Sonoma County and have learned an immense amount about owning and operating my own small business.
