Member Profile: Caitlin Somers, Jackson Family Wines
Tell us about what you do? Give us your “elevator speech”
I schedule trade hospitality tastings, vineyard tours, and overnight stays for Jackson Family Wine’s luxury brands, which are called the Spire Collection. I also help orchestrate events at some of our wineries.
How long have you been with your company/in that line of work?
I’ve only been doing this for about 4 months… it’s my first big girl job out of college!
What do you enjoy most about YPN? If you are new and haven’t experienced what YPN has to offer - what are you hoping to accomplish within this community?
I’ve only been to one event so far, but I enjoyed how everyone was so willing to make conversation and build connections. I was nervous coming into an event full of people I didn’t know, but it really helped that everyone was so friendly—I immediately felt welcome. There are some really fun and inspiring people in this organization!
What do you bring to YPN? If you were to be a go to person for a fellow YPN member what would they go to you for?
I’m pretty good to count on for wine
How long have you been in Sonoma County? If a short period where are you from originally?
I’ve lived most of my life in Santa Rosa. I went to college at UC Santa Cruz, which is the only time I’ve really lived anywhere else.
Whether it is “Hakuna Matata” “Carpe Diem” or “Just Do IT” - Do you have a motto in life?
I try to live my life by the motto “guts and grace.” I think of it as having the courage, or guts, to do what needs to be done, but doing it with class and grace, and it’s something I try to implement in all aspects of my life.
In 10 years where do you hope to be?
I hope to have progressed in my job, but to still be enjoying what I do. I also hope to have traveled to a few more countries in Europe (seeing the Eiffel Tour is on my bucket list).
If you were allowed to eat one type of food for the rest of your life (and not deal with the consequences) what would it be?
The classic burger and fries combo.
What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?
As lame as it sounds, graduating from college and getting a cool job that I love is what I’m most proud of!
Whether it’s a sitcom, Rom-Com, Horror or Thriller – What is on your recently watched list on Netflix/Hulu?
My recently watched list consists of Friends (which I’m finally getting through for the first time and it’s awesome), Parks and Rec (which I have already seen a few times, but will never get old), and Nashville (which is strangely addicting).
