LSR Class 28 Partners with Roseland Prep, Santa Rosa's Newest College Prep Academy

School is starting for the Mighty Rattlers of Roseland Prep, located in the old Ursuline Campus in Santa Rosa. Members of Leadership Santa Rosa Class 28 Service Project spent Saturday, August 17, on Phase One sprucing up the quad, trimming landscape, and installing permanent benches and assembling tables.

LSR members, guided by our fearless team leader Matt Kennedy of GHD Engineering spent months of planning in preparation for the day. GHD donated time and talent to create an engineering survey of the space. LSR 28 Class members held meetings with Principal Amy Jones-Kerr and students, soliciting student drawings about their ideas for their Quad. Through this participatory design development, Class 28 learned that the students' priorities were places to socialize and to be active.

In this phase LSR 28 Volunteers installed benches, tables and spruced up the landscaping. Principal Jones-Kerr and students worked alongside LSR members the entire day. Phase Two later in the fall will be the installation of a basketball hoop and tether ball post. Class members donated and fundraised from our fantastic community, raising over $5,000 to pay for benches, tables, landscaping and building materials and pizza lunch! The school continues to raise funds for future Quad artistic elements.

Roseland Collegiate Prep is Santa Rosa's newest charter public middle and high school, and is the newest school in the successful Roseland School District, focusing on high academic standards and community service.
