Gala Honoree Spotlight: Chairman's Award Winner, Ken Fischang
President/CEO of Sonoma County Tourism (SCT) Kenneth J. Fischang, CHME, CMP, CTA, believes the success within the hospitality industry is, "The power of many in one."
That philosophy drives his leadership within SCT and the hospitality industry. In the past year Sonoma County, as a tourism destination, been lauded by such national and international entities as National Geographic (best places to see), TripAdvisor (top wine destination – Number 1 U.S.; and Number 2 in the world), and CBS News (best getaway in 2013 [video - Sonoma and Santa Rosa at 3:19]).
"This type of recognition takes the tourism industry in Sonoma County to a whole new level," Fischang said. "Along with our staff and board, I'm honored to have a role in strengthening tourism's role in Sonoma County's economic well-being."
"With the leadership that Ken has exhibited, we couldn't think of anyone more deserving to receive the Chairman's Award," said Jonathan Coe, President of the Chamber. "He's been a superb leader and motivator for the cause of tourism in our area and has made a significant impact for our business community."
Along with a storied career in hotels, Ken has served in industry organizations including the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Southern Pacific Chapter board, Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Chicago Area Chapter, St. Louis Society of Association Executives (SAE), the Association Forum of Chicagoland, Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), U.S. Travel Association Destination Council board.
