Farm Fresh Perspective: Ag Day Launches LSR Class 36 Experience

One week after their program kick-off retreat, LSR Class 36 experienced their first program day – Agriculture Day – exploring the bounty and diversity of Sonoma County agriculture.
From resource management and sustainable practices to opportunities and threats affecting the industry, the class learned about key issues and diverse perspectives within our ag community. There were panel discussions with prominent local organizations and businesses such as Sonoma County Farm Bureau and Sonoma County Winegrowers, McClelland’s Dairy and the UC Extension, as well as behind-the-scenes tours of Beretta Dairy, Shone Farm, Dutton Ranch, and Singing Frogs Farm.
Future Farmers of America made their first appearance at Agriculture Day this year, speaking to the development of future agricultural leaders and how they work to prepare themselves to build upon the work that leaders in the industry, like Jana McClelland and Steve Dutton, have been doing.
