Dan Benedetti to be Honored at Chamber’s Agri-Business BBQ
Dan Benedetti, past President and current Chairman of the Board of Clover Stornetta Farms, will be honored with the “Leadership in Agriculture Award” at the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce’s 41st Annual Agri-Business BBQ. The award recognizes Mr. Benedetti’s contributions to the dairy industry and his leadership of one of Sonoma County’s most recognizable and iconic brands, Clover Stornetta Farms.
Mr. Benedetti is proud of Clover Stornetta Farm's sustainable agricultural practices, humane treatment of their dairy herds, their commitment to family farming and the fact that Clover milk comes from cows not treated with the growth hormone rBST. In 1994, Clover Stornetta Farms became the first dairy processor to elevate milk from a commodity to a specialty food by establishing the North Coast Excellence Certified (NCEC) program. The program not only set standards that are the strictest in the dairy industry, far surpassing those of the state and federal government, but paid a premium to dairy producers that met these rigorous standards.
Over the years Mr. Benedetti has also been involved in numerous non-profit organizations throughout Sonoma County. In addition to being the Chairman of the Board for Clover, Dan is also on the Board of Directors for Exchange Bank as well as a Doyle Trust Trustee. He is on the President's Advisory Board of Santa Rosa Junior College, Sonoma State University and the Culinary Institute of America.
Mr. Benedetti will be honored at the Santa Rosa Chamber’s 41st annual Agri-Business Barbecue on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Richard’s Grove and Saralee’s Vineyard, located at Jackson Family Vineyards in the heart of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley, 3575 Slusser Road, Windsor. The event is open to all and begins with a reception at 4:30 p.m. followed by dinner and program at 6:00 p.m.
Established in 1972, the Agri-Business BBQ is an outdoor tradeshow and barbecue that brings together important segments of our community that don’t often meet, and honors the pivotal role of the agriculture community’s contributions to both our economy and in shaping the quality of life in Sonoma County. For the past 25 years, the Chamber has presented the Leadership in Agriculture Award to highlight the diverse sectors of agriculture in Sonoma County. Honorees are nominated by a panel of agriculture industry leaders, and are selected based on their contributions to their industry and our community.
