Chamber Takes Position on Proposition 92

Proposition 92 - Funding for Community Colleges.

The Chamber SUPPORTS (YES) this proposition which will provide an assured funding stream for California's Community Colleges. The Community College system is not only a stepping stone into the University of California and California State University systems, it is also the primary provider of job-related training. Over the past few years, the budget of the system and tuition/fees have varied widely and studies have demonstrated that the students at the Community Colleges are particularly sensitive to tuition and fee increases. This proposition provides a predictable income stream that will allow students to meet their educational goals. Sonoma County, which faces shortages of many critical jobs skills as our workforce changes, will benefit greatly from the Proposition due to the high-quality programs provided at the Santa Rosa Junior College.
