About the Mike Hauser Academy
The Mike Hauser Academy convenes students, businesses and teachers, empowering Sonoma County’s future workforce to become leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This three-week summer school program provides incoming 9th grade English Language Learner students and students who could benefit from extra math and science support the opportunity to visit STEM related companies where they interact with engineers and professionals to observe demonstrations and participate in hands-on activities to see how classroom lessons apply to STEM occupations and operations. Participating students graduate at higher rates than their peers and enter college or technical training at higher rates than their peers. For over a decade, the Mike Hauser Academy has strengthened our local workforce and improved individual lives by prioritizing kids who often do not receive the same opportunities as their peers. ...more info
About the Sonoma County Housing Fund
The Sonoma County Housing Fund is a joint partnership between Housing Trust Silicon Valley and the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber. Leveraging each other’s strengths, expertise and local relationships, Sonoma County Housing Fund finances critically needed affordable housing in the Sonoma County region. In this new partnership, Santa Rosa Metro Chamber secures and deploys the local investments to assist with the affordable housing and Housing Trust underwrites, approves, and administers the loans. The Fund finances deed-restricted affordable housing, ensuring the homes that invested in and built today are kept affordable in the future. Investments have been made throughout the county in in-fill transit oriented areas and include a project for low-income seniors. In just a few years, this unique program has produced homes for our local community members who are eligible for affordable housing in Sonoma County. Given the average family size, the program has provided a home for nearly 1,000 individuals. ...more info
