Building Solutions Together: Celebrating Affordable Housing Month
In recognition of Affordable Housing Month in May, the Metro Chamber, in partnership with Housing Trust Silicon Valley, hosted a happy hour bringing together affordable housing developers, local housing advocates, funders, and small business owners to foster connections and advance collaborative housing solutions throughout Sonoma County.
Speakers highlighted the critical role housing plays in our region's economic vitality. Metro Chamber CEO Ananda Sweet emphasized that a thriving local economy depends on housing and that meaningful progress requires both investment and commitment. Jenni Klose of Generation Housing spoke to the importance of cross-sector collaboration and the collective willingness to support new housing opportunities. Julie Rosser Mahowald, CFO and Head of Partnerships & Strategy at Housing Trust Silicon Valley, reflected on how rare and valuable it is to have a Chamber of Commerce invest in affordable housing solutions.
Through the Sonoma County Housing Fund, the Metro Chamber and Housing Trust Silicon Valley have invested more than $20 million in seven projects, supporting the creation of more than 600 affordable homes throughout Sonoma County. These investments demonstrate the power of innovative public-private partnerships and underscore the Metro Chamber's ongoing commitment to advancing solutions that strengthen our economy and community and drive meaningful progress on one of our region's most pressing challenge.
