Boosting English Skills Benefits Both Employees and Companies
Costeaux French Bakery is one of the latest companies to take advantage of the Chamber’s Workforce Held Employee English Learning (WHEEL) program.
“All around, it’s a win-win situation,” said General Manager Will Seppi. “It’s an investment I definitely will make again.”
Completely customized to a company’s needs, the WHEEL program involves 32 hours of instruction adapted to fit workers’ language levels and industry specific language skills. Employees benefit by improving their communication skills, businesses experience higher rates of production and customer satisfaction and the entire community benefits from an enhanced workforce.
This countywide program, made possible in part with funding from First 5 Sonoma County, also offers components that promote family-friendly policies in the workplace, financial literacy classes, and family literacy workshops for employees with young children.
