Advocacy Council Gives Business a Voice on Old Courthouse Square Reunification
Last week, the Santa Rosa City Council approved moving forward with plans to reunify Old Courthouse Square, and the Chamber’s Advocacy Council was there to express strong support tempered by some concerns. Downtown business owner Terry Darcy of Darcy’s Fine Jewelers spoke on behalf of the Advocacy Council and urged more consultation with the business community stakeholders, flexibility in amending the design, and a desire for the project to be done in "discrete" stages or phases.
The City Council assured Advocacy Council members that they would welcome input for downtown business owners and that the project plan would allow for modifications. City Council members then approved reunification plans on a six to one vote.
