The Poet's House, A Reading by Elizabeth Herron
Join us for a very special reading of The Poet's House with Elizabeth Herron, former Poet Laureate of Sonoma County, 2022 to 2024.
The Poet's House is a book-length poem written in collaboration with Bruce Johnson's building of The Poetry House, a japanese teahouse inspired building on Johnson's property. After being inspired by a poem by local writer Elizabeth Herron, Bruce said, “it struck me that I was building a ‘poetry house’ rather than a teahouse - even though I had no idea what a ‘poetry house’ would be.”
Elizabeth agreed to collaborate on the project. She wrote a long poem, The Poet’s House, which she and Bruce inscribed underneath the building’s roof and walls, “to imbue this small sacred space with verse,” in Bruce’s words.
