As the rainy season begins, wild mushrooms are popping up all over Sonoma County, and there’s no better time to learn about them!
Join David Campbell for a presentation full of photos and a lifetime of insight into the rich wild fungal activity in local forests and watersheds. This is an interactive, welcoming session where open discussion and questions are encouraged. Attendees are invited to bring recently collected mushroom specimens of interest for observation and identification during the meeting.

Presenter Bio:
David Campbell has been studying, teaching, and safely enjoying wild mushrooms for over 50 years. He served more than a decade on the council of the Mycological Society of San Francisco (MSSF), including two terms as president, and was the original president of the Mycological Society of Marin County (MycoMarin). Focused on edible and poisonous mushrooms, he has led numerous fungal forays for MSSF, the Sonoma Mycological Association (SOMA), and the annual Napa Truffle Festival.
David has decades of experience with the San Francisco Poison Control Center responding to mushroom-related incidents and has facilitated mycological seminars with author David Arora. As an expert mycophagist and long-time educator, he is the principal of Wild About Mushrooms Company, teaching basic mycology and organizing wild mushroom events across California. His international tour company, MycoVentures, offers truffle, mushroom, and wine tours in Italy and Croatia.
