Free Talk: History of Fire Departments in Western Sonoma County
Decades ago, small fire houses in Western Sonoma County used rooftop sirens to alert firefighting volunteers. These individuals left their fields and businesses at a moment’s notice to respond to emergencies. Today, organizations use modern equipment and technology to provide emergency services to our region. A free talk by longtime firefighter will share the evolution and history from those early days to the present. Jack Piccinni, who has fought fires in Sebastopol for over fifty years, will share his stories and perspective from a lifetime of keeping us safe. This free lecture is a project from the Western Sonoma County Historical Society.
