Amphibians of the San Francisco Bay Area Workshop
This workshop, hosted by the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, provides an overview of the life history, ecology, and conservation of frogs, toads, and salamanders in the San Francisco Bay Area. Professional biologists and resource managers will gain practical knowledge of our local amphibians.
For each of the 16 species listed below, the workshop will cover identification features, range and distribution, habitat requirements, and behavior. Both common and rare species will be discussed:
American Bullfrog, Arboreal Salamander, Black Salamander, California Giant Salamander, California Red-Legged Frog, California Slender Salamander, California Tiger Salamander, Foothill Yellow-Legged Frog, Northwestern Salamander, Pacific Chorus Frog, California Newt, Red-Bellied Newt, Rough-Skinned Newt, Western Spadefoot, Western Toad, Yellow-Eyed Salamander
Instructors: Dave Cook and Jeff Alvarez, experts in amphibian ecology and conservation who conduct herpetological research in the San Francisco Bay Area, will lead the sessions hosted by the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation.
Field Trips: Participants will be split into four identical field trips (maximum 20 participants each). When registration opens, field trips can be selected by date and time.
