Wine Country Games announces new website
The 2014 Sonoma Wine Country Games is pleased to launch their new website at www.winecountrygames.com. “It’s more intuitive, more user friendly and focuses on our athletes and sponsors this year.” says Marrianne McBride, CEO & President of the Council on Aging Services for Seniors. “We are so fortunate to have the corporate community support for this event and this is our way of saying thank you.” The new site offers athlete viewpoints and stories as well as current locations to find training for the events’ sports offerings.
New sports offered this year are: Badminton (Haehl Gym, SRJC), Bowling (Double Decker Lanes, Rohnert Park), FootGolf (Foxtail Golf Club, Rohnert Park), and Racquet (Petaluma Valley Athletic Club, Petaluma) which bring the Games to new venues across the county.
New and past participants will be able to enjoy the new pickleball courts at Finley Center, Santa Rosa. Responding to the growing popularity of the sport in other areas, this past fall city workers striped two tennis courts at Finley to pickleball dimensions. New and past participants will truly enjoy this new venue.
Many of the events this year will be held on the Santa Rosa High School and Junior College campuses creating an Olympic athlete village type atmosphere which will add to the excitement.
The 2014 Games feature over 20 sports: Archery, badminton (NEW), basketball, bocce, bowling (NEW), cycling, FootGolf (NEW), golf, horseshoes, pickleball, racquetball (NEW), men’s & women’s soccer, men’s & women’s softball, square dancing (exhibition), swimming, table tennis, tennis, track & field, volleyball & more.
