Sonoma State University Craft Beer Appreciation Certificate
Does the Craft Beer Industry interest you? Do you want to learn about food and beer pairing, the brewing process, and what it takes to produce and be in the business of beer? Sonoma State University is offering the Craft Beer Appreciation Certificate program beginning October 30th.
Classes take place on Mondays at 101 North Brewing Company and on Wednesdays at Lagunitas Brewery, from 6-9 pm. The first session, Craft Beer Appreciation I: What is Beer?, runs October 30 through November 13th, and will cover beer appreciation, pairing food and beer, and learning about the craft of making beer. The second session, Craft Beer Appreciation II: The Business of Beer, runs November 15 through December 4 and highlights the business of beer, the legal a regulatory systems, beer distribution and how craft breweries got their start.
Notables such as Mark Carpenter of Anchor Brewing Company; Don Barkley, one of the first micro brewers in the country after Prohibition; Nicole Erny, Master Cicerone; Sean Paxton, the Homebrew Chef; and Pete Slosberg, founder of Pete’s Wicked Ales; are professionals from the brewing industry that will be featured speakers throughout the program. Throughout the 10 sessions of the program you will be exposed to brewing professionals, learn invaluable information regarding the Craft Beer Industry, and make valuable contacts throughout the course. You will never look at a glass of beer the same way again.
