Sonoma County Alliance Executive Director to transition after Ten years of service
Sonoma County Alliance, Executive Director Brian Ling has notified the Alliance of his plan to step down after nearly ten years of service. His announcement follows his decision to pursue a new career direction. Ling will continue his duties to support the organization through an early 2022 transition to a new executive director.
According to Alliance president Marlene Soiland, “We are very grateful for Brian’s ten years of service to the organization. Brian engaged in and advocated for all of the issues central to our mission. These include land use, property rights, transportation, affordable housing, protecting the environment, water supply and wastewater use, solid waste disposal and composting activities, education, and community safety.”
Soiland will serve as president through the end of 2021, with Kimberly Waite taking over the position of president on January 1, 2022. Waite also recognized the years of service Ling has given, adding, “Brian has been deeply involved and represented the Sonoma County Alliance with each of our current advocacy opportunities. In addition, he helped establish and then lead the Career Technical Education Foundation, which focuses on workforce development.
The March 2022 Sonoma County Alliance General Membership Meeting will include a farewell celebration to acknowledge Brian’s important contributions to the organization. Ling plans to remain an active Alliance member to promote transportation issues, wildfire prevention, and business advocacy.
