Sonoma Clean Power Announces 2017 Board of Directors

County of Mendocino and City of Fort Bragg Among New Board Seats

Sonoma Clean Power (SCP) has announced their 2017 Board of Directors.

Town of Windsor Councilmember Bruce Okrepkie has assumed the position of Board Chair, supported by Mendocino County Supervisor Dan Hamburg as Vice Chair. Other Directors include: Immediate Past Chair Patrick Slayter/City of Sebastopol; Melanie Bagby/City of Cloverdale; Gina Belforte/City of Rohnert Park; James Gore/County of Sonoma; Amy Harrington/City of Sonoma; Gabe Kearney/City of Petaluma; Mark Landman/City of Cotati; Lindy Peters/City of Fort Bragg and Chris Rogers/City of Santa Rosa.

“We are pleased to welcome Supervisor Hamburg from the County of Mendocino and Fort Bragg Mayor Lindy Peters, as SCP prepares to extend service to the residents of Mendocino County in June of this year,” said Board Chair, Bruce Okrepkie.

Serving Sonoma County for three years and saving customers $62 million collectively, SCP has also reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 48%, retained competitive rates and paid solar customers $890,000 for excess electricity they’ve generated.

“The County of Mendocino is enthusiastic to join Sonoma Clean Power and extend the benefits to our residents,” said Vice Chair, Supervisor Dan Hamburg. “What SCP has accomplished in just three short years is truly impressive,” he added.

“On behalf of the SCP Board, I wish to extend my thanks and gratitude to Immediate Past Chair Patrick Slayter,” Okrepkie offered. “Under his leadership, SCP amended our Joint Powers Agreement to ensure future success, expanded service into Mendocino County and extended the contract of our excellent CEO, Geof Syphers. SCP is poised to continue to do great things.”

Sonoma Clean Power is a not-for-profit public agency, which is the default electricity provider for Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. SCP offers local control, choice, cleaner electricity and lower greenhouse gas emissions at competitive rates.
