Redwood Credit Union Launches Android Pay and Samsung Pay
Redwood Credit Union (RCU) announced that its credit cards can now be used with Android Pay and Samsung Pay, giving RCU cardholders a safe, convenient way to pay at participating retailers with a compatible mobile device. Last year, RCU was among the first financial institutions in the North Bay to introduce Apple Pay, a similar payment option for Apple mobile devices.
“We are dedicated to offering our Members convenience while preserving their account security using the latest technologies,” said Ron Felder, executive vice president and chief lending officer at Redwood Credit Union. “Mobile wallet services like Android Pay and Samsung Pay add versatility to RCU’s credit card and our Members appreciate having options.”
Mobile wallets such as Android Pay and Samsung Pay enable users to use their mobile device to pay for transactions at participating retailers. Payments made through Android Pay and Samsung Pay are considered highly secure, as the mobile device does not store the user’s credit card number. Instead, a unique, encrypted security number is provided for each transaction.
Compatible Samsung Pay devices include the Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6, and the Galaxy S6 active. Android Pay users need a smartphone or tablet running Android 4.4 or above. For more information about any of RCU’s mobile wallet options, visit www.redwoodcu.org/mobilewallet.
In addition, RCU is now offering Members the ability to use their RCU Visa credit or debit card with Visa Checkout. A fast, convenient way to pay online, Visa Checkout securely saves account information so users spend less time making payments online.
