Pinwheel Garden at City Hall for Child Abuse Prevention Month
The Child Parent Institute (CPI) invites the community to plant a pinwheel garden on the lawn at Santa Rosa City Hall to raise awareness of child abuse. 181 pinwheels will be planted, one for each child that was removed from an unsafe or abusive home last year in Sonoma County.
This free event will take place on Saturday, April 23rd from 10:00-10:30 AM. CPI will be providing the pinwheels and encourages anyone in the community to come out and participate.
Why the pinwheel? The pinwheel reminds us of childlike notions and symbolizes the healthy, happy, carefree childhood that all children deserve.
“Planting a Pinwheel Garden in the month of April demonstrates our commitment to building a healthy community and investing in the lives of children. We hope to see families planting pinwheels together next Saturday.” says Robin Bowen, executive director or CPI.
