North Bay Credit Union names Bass to legal position

David Bass, previously with the California Department of Justice, is joining the staff of North Bay Credit Union as General Counsel and Compliance Officer.

“David’s specialized knowledge will be particularly beneficial as we navigate the increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment in which we operate,” says Chris Call, North Bay Credit Union CEO.

While with the California DOJ, he was the lead prosecutor for the State Tax Recovery and Crime Enforcement Task Force, working with federal and state governmental agencies such as the FBI, IRS and the California State Franchise Tax Board. He was also part of the state’s Financial Crimes and Special Prosecution Unit, prosecuting a wide range of cases to protect the public.

Bass most recently served as in-house counsel for a large international bank, and was Chief Risk Management Officer with West Coast ALM Services.

“David’s comprehensive understanding of California’s financial laws will ensure we are always in compliance with state regulations, as well as help us take advantage of any new opportunities to better serve our membership,” Call said.
