New COVID-19 testing in the North Bay offers results within two days
ADx Healthcare, a physician-owned company located in Washington State, is now offering their rapid-turnaround, drive-through COVID-19 testing in the North Bay. This testing is open to everyone age two and up and no doctor’s referral or symptoms required. This new testing option is vital for those with travel and/or business plans who need to ensure their test results will be available by a specific day.
This COVID-19 test costs $149, and customers sign up, pay and make their appointment online. At the appointment time the patient will enter the drive-through location where a medical assistant will supervise a self-swab for sample collection. This molecular testing uses a short swab for cells in the lower part of both nostrils, a process more comfortable but equally reliable to upper nasal passage testing. Same-day, same-hour appointments are possible, based on availability.
“Within two days, the patient will receive an email notification of test results and can log-in through the HIPAA-compliant patient portal to review, download and print the results”, said Allison McKeany, Director of Operations for ADx Healthcare, and a resident of Sonoma. A medical doctor reviews all results. ADx Healthcare does not bill insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid but this test is listed as a Health Savings Account eligible expense.
A game-changer for local businesses
ADx Healthcare works with local businesses, both big and small, to find the best testing approach tailored for their specific needs. Drive-through, on-site, or a combination of both are available, as well as access to an employer-specific portal to pre-register employees and have direct access to results if given permission by the employee. After reaching out to ADx Healthcare, a local business can have on-site testing within a day or two and can choose between a one-time test or an on-going screening testing routine based on their needs.
The gold standard
Testing is completed at Northwest Laboratory, a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited lab and is an FDA EUA-approved RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV2 (COVID-19), required for most travel. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is considered the current gold standard among COVID-19 tests.
