Introducing TLAHCO Mexican Grill Genuine, Fresh Mexican Cuisine Coming to Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa’s New Restaurant from the Owners of Paradise Sushi
Gustavo Martinez and his brothers are local restaurateurs, and will soon open their newest venture, TLAHCO Mexican Grill, in Santa Rosa.
TLAHCO Mexican Grill offers a simple menu of genuine Mexican fare, with all ingredients obtained fresh daily. The name pays homage to the taco’s origins in Mesoamerica; the word taco comes from the Nahuatl word ‘tlahco’ (pronounced ‘tla-ko’) which means “half or in the middle”, referring to the way it is formed.
The restaurant will be located at 1800 Mendocino Avenue – the former site of Jalisco’s Taqueria, and is expected to open in late August. Recent attendees of the North Coast Food and Wine Festival got an advanced taste of TLAHCO Mexican Grill’s Al Pastor and Carne Asada Tacos.
“Your food was so good! Can’t wait ‘til you open,” said one attendee on TLAHCO’s Facebook page. “Our winery booth was across from you, and the line stretched way past us for most of the event!”
Martinez moved from Mexico to Lake Tahoe in 1996, where he worked as the head chef at Hiro Sushi restaurant in Kings Beach for 14 years. In pursuit of his dreams of restaurant ownership, Martinez sold his truck, many possessions, and his land in Mexico to open his first restaurant, Paradise Sushi in Petaluma. Today his restaurant group has grown to three Paradise Sushi venues and one Paradise Sushi + Hibachi restaurant in Santa Rosa.
“My brothers and I look forward to bringing the genuine taste of Mexico to diners at TLAHCO,” said Gustavo Martinez. “This restaurant is the realization of a longtime dream for us,” he added.
TLAHCO Mexican Grill is expected to open daily at 10:30 AM, and offer dine in, carry out and catering services. For more information and to view the menu, visit www.tlahcomexicangrill.com.
