Ground breaking ceremony for new indoor sports and entertainment complex
The EPICENTER indoor sports and entertainment complex will host a celebration and ground breaking ceremony at its highly anticipated new facility on Monday, December 7th, 2015 at 12:00pm (noon) at 3215 Coffey Lane in Santa Rosa, CA 95404 (Cross streets: Piner Road and Coffey Lane). The groundbreaking event will be hosted by Epicenter Development LLC.
The EPICENTER is positioned to redefine indoor sports and entertainment in Santa Rosa. The 130,000 square foot warehouse building will house a series of athletic and fitness facilities, entertainment venues, dining, retail and gathering rooms. Formerly an industrial remnant of another era, the facility is being recharged with new life to support the recreational activities of the community. “The EPICENTER is a reflection of the community it serves,” said Joe Lourdeaux, Epicenter Vice President. “Santa Rosa has a vibrant, active spirit. The EPICENTER will provide a destination for families and adults seeking that unique blend of sports, recreation, entertainment, dining, and plain old fun. It will serve as a home to locals and a destination location for the greater Northern California area.”
The EPICENTER is on the forefront, representing one of the only facilities in the United States of this scale combining both athletic and entertainment components. With support from a national team of experts, the owners have developed a regional resource that is intended to put Santa Rosa on the map for recreation and entertainment. The EPICENTER was constructed to meet the needs of the entire family. It is a safe, secure environment where kids and families can actually play, recreate and socialize together.
The original warehouse was constructed in the 1960’s. The remodeled facility will have a number of sustainable features including a solar system, building materials with high recycled contents, interior and exterior LED lighting, energy efficient mechanical systems and insulation values and a natural cooling system. The building will house different sports and entertainment tenants and contain the following:
- Sports City Arena (3 playing fields and one basketball/multipurpose court)
- Anytime Fitness health club and sports performance training center
- Retail sports shop
- Starbucks Café
- Family Entertainment Center: Laser Tag, 7D Theater Motion Ride, Redemption & Arcade games, Spin Zone Bumper Cars, A three level Ballocity play structure, Toddler Area & Pizzeria
- Party, meeting and banquet rooms
- 12 Boutique bowling lanes
- 4 VIP bowling lanes
- Restaurant and sports lounge.
The EPICENTER will also be the new location for Santa Rosa’s premier existing indoor sports facility, Sports City. After 20 years Sports City will be moving and expanding their operations adding three fields and a basketball/multipurpose court in the new complex. “We are excited to be able to move into a state of the art, climate controlled facility,” said Andrew Rowley, CEO of Sports City. “This is a tremendous opportunity to give our customers and the sports community a better overall experience. Our players and parents will be able to enjoy all of the new amenities in the complex from Starbucks to games and attractions and all the great food and beverage options.”
Combined with its existing Cotati facility, the new center will allow Sports City to expand into other sports like lacrosse, flag football, basketball and volleyball. “Both our youth and adult leagues and children’s programs continue to grow so having additional indoor field and court space is great for the community but the real benefits of the additional space is that it allows us to provide better league game times. Sports City will now be available for non-sports events as our fields and meeting room capacity will also allow us to provide space to local sports clubs, companies and organizations for their meetings, parties, events and even trade shows” said Andrew Rowley.
The EPICENTER will also be home to the “Goals Foundation”, which is a non-profit foundation that runs the Rising Stars after school sports program for special needs children as well as sports programs for at-risk youth in the community.
The EPICETNER will contain Santa Rosa’s first full Family Entertainment Center. But unlike traditional kids play areas, adults will also find a surprising number of attractions geared toward them like the 7D Theater, trampolines, and the 50 foot video wall to watch sporting events. Says Joe Lourdeaux, “Even our bowling lanes were built for families and socializing. Couches and coffee tables are only the start of what separates this from a traditional bowling center. The bowling center will provide a premium bowling experience in a modern lounge setting with a focus on open bowling and group events.”
Bowling patrons will enjoy an upscale, hip and fun environment with audiovisual technology like large video screens above the lanes for video and automated scoring. The experience is further enhanced by colorful lighting, glow-in-the-dark lanes and music. There will even be a four lane private VIP luxury suite that can be rented for parties and events.
Continuing the theme of modernizing traditional entertainment, the trampoline park revolutionizes the traditional backyard trampoline on both size and safety. The trampoline park features an expansive open jump area, an enclosed trampoline dodgeball court, and a trampoline based basketball court. We are very excited to have Rockin’ Jump open our 20th location here,” says Drew Wilson, CEO of Rockin’ Jump.
The EPICENTER will also offer multiple onsite dining options including the only Starbucks on Piner Road, a Pizzeria, and the new Victory House Restaurant and Sports Lounge. Victory House is an upscale full service restaurant and sports lounge with a 50 foot wide video wall and three large projection screens to watch live sporting events. The 50 foot video wall will be the largest restaurant based screen in Northern California. The dining area will have over 75 flat screen TVs in addition to an outdoor patio with fire pits.
Anytime Fitness, the world largest and fastest growing 24-hour co-ed fitness franchise, is also a key tenant in the Epicenter. We are very excited to be a part of this incredible new facility” said Brett Livingstone, Anytime Fitness club owner. “Our gym is positioned to provide personalized attention for all of our members and will make it easy for our members to exercise whenever and however they like.
Anytime Fitness at the Epicenter will feature a state-of-the-art Sports Performance Training Center, featuring some of the area’s best strength, speed and performance coaches. "Whether you are an advanced, aspiring or weekend-warrior level athlete, we will make you better" said Livingstone. "The Epicenter will draw some of the area’s best talent and we will be uniquely positioned to service the traditional fitness as well as the high performance communities alike".
AXIA Architects and Wright Contracting, both locally based firms, are leading the design and construction teams to bring the project to reality and Bank of America is the financing partner for the project. The indoor athletic fields, sports court, health club, and Trampoline Park are expected to open to the public in spring of 2016. The Family Entertainment Center, Sports Lounge, and Bowling plan to open in Summer of 2016. It is anticipated that the EPICENTER and its tenants will create over 250 jobs for the local community when fully operational.
