Community Child Care Council opens full day Preschool Project in Rohnert Park
The Community Child Care Council of Sonoma County (4Cs), opened its doors today to a brand new full day bilingual preschool program at its Gold Ridge center in Rohnert Park. The site is located at 1455 Golf Course Dr. Rohnert Park, CA 94928. This new program was a partnership with 4Cs, The City of Rohnert Park and First 5 Sonoma County.
The new full day program involved renovating an existing 2,560 square feet of building space owned by the City of Rohnert Park. The program can hold up to 48 children. “Providing quality pre-school is one of the best things we can do for young families. I’m pleased that Rohnert Park is offering our site to create a year-round opportunity for 48 children and their families.” said City of Rohnert Park Councilmember Joe Callinan. 4Cs will also be offering Kindermusik, an educational music program to all its 4Cs Gold Ridge students as part of its curriculum this coming fall, thanks to a generous donation from Sonoma Wine Country Weekend.
The First 5 Commission contributed $230K toward renovation of the facility, including funds for equipment and a playground. The 4Cs Gold Ridge Preschool has a part day program that serves 24 children in the morning and 24 children in the afternoon. The new full day Preschool program will accommodate up to 48 additional children, a significant expansion of the number of preschool slots available in Rohnert Park. The grant was made as part of First 5’s Early Care and Education Facilities Grants Program. First 5 Executive Director, Angie Dillon-Shore stated “Expanding the availability of subsidized preschool slots in Rohnert Park has significantly increased access to high quality early learning opportunities for the community’s children. Studies have demonstrated that children who attend a quality pre-kindergarten program are significantly more likely to be ready to succeed in Kindergarten and on through the grades. First 5 is very committed to increasing opportunities for young children in Sonoma County to succeed – an investment that will benefit the whole community down the road. First 5 Sonoma County is so proud to be part of the 4Cs Gold Ridge Preschool project.”
“Providing a full day Preschool option to our working families is essential,” said Melanie Dodson, Executive Director of 4Cs. “This allows our parents to have high quality care and Preschool education for their 3 & 4 year olds while their parents are working full time or going to school.”
The community is invited to an Open House and ribbon cutting scheduled for August 2nd, 2017 from 4:30-6:30 PM. To RSVP please contract Tiffani Montgomery, tmontgomery@sonoma4cs.org
