Celebrate Pride with Your Library
Join the Sonoma County Library in celebrating Pride! This month, the library is honoring Pride with virtual programs and events, summer Take & Make craft kits, booklists for all ages, community resources, and more. Visit sonomalibrary.org/celebratepride for the full list.
Pride Month is a time to promote the self-affirmation, dignity, equality and increased visibility of the LGBTQ+ community. The LGBTQ+ community will always be welcomed and celebrated at the Sonoma County Library, not just during Pride Month, but every day.
"The library depends upon the hard work and passion of queer employees and volunteers,” said Stuart Wilkinson, Chair of the Queer Advocacy Team at Sonoma County Library. “We are dedicated to creating a more equitable and inclusive library culture for all of Sonoma County, not despite our differences but because of them."
Sonoma County Library Director Ann Hammond said that everyone is welcome at the library and urges the community to join the library’s celebration of Pride.
One virtual event that is not to be missed is the Sonoma County LGBTQI+ History Timeline on Tuesday, June 22, at 5:30 p.m. Explore the community building, cultural and social change forged by local LGBTQI+ people from 1947 to 2000. Join the library for a lively discussion about community and other topics important to North Bay LGBTQI+ life. The event will be presented by LGBTQI+ Historians Tina Dungan and Shad Reinstein, who created the Sonoma County LGBTQI+ Timeline. Register through the online Programs/Virtual Events Calendar at sonomalibrary.org or by calling your local library branch.
