Celebrate Native American & Indigenous Heritage with Your Library
November is National Native American Heritage Month, a recognition of the ancestry and traditions of Native American/Indigenous peoples. Sonoma County Library invites the community to celebrate Native American and Indigenous heritage. Visit sonomalibrary.org/NAHM for library events, books for all ages, information on local tribes and Native American groups, history and more.
“In celebration of Native American and Indigenous Heritage Month, Sonoma County Library is pleased to offer events with authors, scholars and changemakers,” said Aleta Dimas, Adult Services Administrator at Sonoma County Library. “We also invite you to check out books and films by, for and about Native peoples from across North America.”
One such film is “Inhabitants: Indigenous Perspectives on Restoring Our World.” The library is hosting a virtual panel discussion on the documentary on Tuesday, November 15, at 6 p.m.
“It is an honor to be in conversation with filmmakers Ben-Alex Dupris and Dr. Michael Kotutwa Johnson about the film they collaborated on, ‘Inhabitants: Indigenous Perspectives on Restoring Our World.’ You can screen the film in the comfort of your own home through November 15 for a fascinating look at traditional land management practices,” Dimas said.

Sonoma County Library joins thousands of libraries, schools and local governments in paying tribute to the ancestry and traditions of Native Americans/Indigenous peoples throughout the month of November and beyond.
