Building code update delayed until July 1, 2014 — extending PG&E rebates
The California Energy Commission voted to delay implementation of the Title 24 building code update until July 1, 2014. Changes to the code include stricter energy–efficiency guidelines that will impact PG&E incentive programs. The rebates in the following table are available through June 30, 2014. Now is the time to take advantage of these valuable incentives.

The Title 24 building code, a subset of the California Code of Regulations, sets the guidelines for building design, operation and efficiency throughout the state. Beginning on July 1, 2014, important changes to the code will take effect, which include stricter energy–efficiency standards. California's goal for all new buildings to be net–zero energy after 2030 is a major focus of the update.
Changes that will take effect in July 2014 encompass lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and controls. Building areas affected include server rooms, commercial kitchens, refrigeration, parking garages and more. Automation and controls for lighting, HVAC and process equipment will also be affected. Overall, the updated standards are estimated to increase energy efficiency by 30 percent compared to the 2008 version, which is currently in place.
