BOHLUX retools to produce protective masks
When the shelter in place order was announced, Lu Comora, owner and designer at BOHLUX and the Academy of Leather Arts, immediately closed her downtown 5th Street leather atelier and transformed her home workspace to start stitching face masks.
To date, with the cooperation of many others, she has managed to organize the production of over 3,000 handmade, washable, reusable face masks with a built-in Filti filter.
These face masks can now be seen in and around Santa Rosa as the City has purchased 2,000 face masks and SMART over 500.
The tireless effort Lu brought forth in the last couple of months is a testament to her constant desire to help, in any way she can, to protect our fellow citizens, SMART employees and all of the Santa Rosa City employees who come in contact with Santa Rosans while doing their jobs.
"I am very proud of her," says Lu's husband, Kev Comora, "and I'll continue to assist her in picking up supplies, packaging, labeling and making deliveries while she continues to design and produce these much needed, potentially life saving, face masks for anyone who needs them."
