What keeps the School of Business and Economics at SSU supporting YPN year after year?

The YPN mission “to inspire, educate and empower young business leaders” closely aligns with our own mission to provide extraordinary learning experiences and to advance best business practices. We see YPN as a complementary force and an important ally in our role as the educational catalyst for a collaborative, thriving North Bay economy and its impact on the global economy.

Going into your 8th year of sponsoring us, how have you seen our organization grow? What do you think?

The organization is a springboard for local young people to get involved in their community. That function has only gotten stronger, as the network has gotten bigger. The quality of the content and creativity of the events has also continued to excel over the years. Initially it was a core group of loyal attendees. Today, while that core group has changed, there is increasingly more diversity among members, in terms of both life experience and professional experience.

If you could tell all of the young professionals of our organization one thing, what would it be?

Be open to learning new things and find time to build professional and self-development activities into your schedule. That could include community service, pro bono, and other volunteering activities. Education and professional development are essential to opportunity, and now more than ever, the world needs leaders who are able to adapt and innovate in order to move enterprises and our economy forward.
