FREE ParkSMART Shuttle Service Begins December 13
Beginning on Wednesday, December 13, the new ParkSMART shuttle will connect the Downtown SMART station and Railroad Square to Downtown’s parking garages, shops, restaurants and Old Courthouse Square, and best of all it’s FREE!
The shuttle is wheelchair accessible, available for everyone to use, and will travel round trip connecting the SMART Station to various points Downtown, with stops at:
- Santa Rosa Downtown SMART Station
- Bus stop on Third Street at Wilson Street
- Downtown Transit Mall and City Parking Garage 12
- Fourth Street at Old Courthouse Square
- City Parking Garage 1 at Seventh Street
- Bus stop on B Street at Santa Rosa Plaza
Shuttle service will operate during peak commute hours, Monday through Friday, on a schedule coordinated with SMART train arrivals and departures. View the ParkSMART schedule and route map.
Connecting to Parking
With the start of train service to Santa Rosa, there is increased demand for parking adjacent to or near the train stations. The ParkSMART shuttle will help connect SMART riders to parking lots and garages Downtown. The shuttle stops at Garage 1 (at 521 Seventh Street) and Garage 12 (at the Transit Mall) and within a short walk of other City lots and garages. Monthly parking permits may be obtained from the Parking Services Division, with more information online at srcity.org/parking or by calling 707-543-3325.
The ParkSMART Shuttle is a Pilot Program
This pilot program will operate initially only on weekdays, on a schedule coordinated schedule with the SMART train. Both the shuttle schedule and route are designed to facilitate commuters parking at Garage 1 or 12 to catch the SMART train. The shuttle service will be monitored and evaluated based on analysis of ridership and utilization of the parking garages. City staff will propose adjustments to service levels within the first 4 months if it’s evident there is increased service demand or underutilized service. Comments and questions about the shuttle service can be addressed to Transit Planner Yuri Koslen at email@example.com.
Funding for the ParkSMART Pilot Program
The City Council awarded the contract for operating the ParkSMART shuttle service to MV Transportation, Inc., with an approximate annual operation cost of $180,000. This pilot program is being funded through the Parking Services Division’s Parking Fund.
