Workforce Development Coordinator

  • Hours: Full Time Exempt Position
  • Reports to: Vice President of Public Policy & Workforce Development
  • Salary Range: Up to $50k annual salary plus benefits
Position summary

Under the direction of the Vice President of Public Policy & Workforce Development, the Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for organizing and supporting the workforce development programs within the Chamber.  Those programs include the Employer Supported Child Care program, WHEEL and WHEEL Plus, the Mike Hauser Academy and Latinos in the Workplace.

General Duties
  • Provide support to the Chamber’s First 5 Contract programs, Employer Supported Child Care, WHEEL and WHEEL Plus including but not limited to:
    • Support all aspects of the development of an employer supported child care center
    • Outreach to educate employers, primarily targeting those businesses that employ English Learners, on the importance of early childhood development
    • Help update and maintain business outreach materials, both print and web based, that help businesses identify and implement family friendly policies in the workplace
    • Introduce Sonoma County businesses to programs and resources available to their employees that address early childhood education, family literacy, economic stability or family-friendly policies
    • Track progress and data to be used in progress reports to funders
  • Provide administrative support to the Mike Hauser Academy
  • Provide administrative support to the Latinos in the Workplace Conference
  • Provide support to the Workforce Development and Economic Development committees by organizing meetings, creating agendas, and taking minutes
  • Act as an ambassador of the Chamber’s workforce development efforts
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Public Policy & Workforce Development
Preferred Background, Experience & Qualifications
  • Experienced knowledge of Windows, MS Office, Outlook and data base management programs
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively with intermittent disruptions
  • Ability to achieve time-sensitive goals
  • Positive, service-oriented, professional demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal / written) required
  • Team player attitude is a must
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must have current driver’s license and clear DMV record
  • Event coordination experience desirable
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills desirable
